Do I need to be a “Bible Expert” to Host?

Filed under: FAQ, Small Groups — Angela @ 9:28 am

Definitely not! The most important things that you need are a desire to serve the members of your group and to grow in your own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When you take this step of faith, through prayer, God’s Holy Spirit will give you what you need to be an effective Host. If you decide to continue following 40 Days, we will provide you with follow-up curriculum choices that will be easy to use. We will also help with additional training and coaching.

Can I get a friend to help me Host?

Filed under: FAQ, Small Groups — Angela @ 9:28 am

Absolutely! We encourage you to pair up with another friend or another couple. Together you can pray for the people God will be bringing to your meeting. You can decide how you will share the role of Host. Maybe you open your home and your partner makes the phone calls. Or maybe you both take half the list and make the calls and check back with each other. It is our hope that by teaming up with someone else, you can find a way to make this an exciting and challenging adventure for both of you.

Prayer Chain

Filed under: Prayer, Zion Inside Out Booth — Angela @ 2:30 pm

prayer chainThe 40 Days Prayer Team has started this prayer chain that is hanging in the narthex. They hope to grow this chain throughout the building until and beyond Lent.

Various groups will be encouraged to contribute to the chain as the year goes on, and there will be ongoing opportunities to add your prayers at the “Zion Inside Out” 40 Days Information Booth, and through the Zion40 website.

What are YOU praying for?

What’s the goal of taking part in 40 Days of Community?

Filed under: Small Groups — Angela @ 2:29 pm

The goal is to help each and every one of us to grow spiritually and to develop a more meaningful life on earth and to discover how we are “Better Together”. 40 Days of Community will help us to deepen our understanding of how God uses other people—specifically others in our church family—for our good and our growth. It will show us how God can use us to bless others.

To achieve our goal we will work together during 40 Days of Community to fulfill God’s five purposes:

EVANGELISM: We’re Commissioned to Reach Out Together
FELLOWSHIP: We’re Chosen to Belong Together
DISCIPLESHIP: We’re Connected to Grow Together
MINISTRY: We’re Called to Serve Together
WORSHIP: We’re Created to Worship Together

An essential part of reaching our goal during 40 Days of Community is the establishment of Small Groups.

In order to establish Small Groups we first need people to volunteer to be Group Hosts. We are now in the process of recruiting Small Group Hosts. You can be a Small Group Host in your home or here at church, which ever works best for you. To find out how you can become a host and to get information, stop by the 40 Days Information Booth—“Zion Inside Out”, which is now available every Sunday in the Narthex. You can also contact the Host Hotline.

We encourage you to become a host. The more hosts we have the more people we can get involved in Small Groups, and watch the impact this can have on the success of this program as we reach out to help others in our church and community.

Pray for our Pastors

Filed under: Prayer — Angela @ 10:34 pm

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7 NIV

Pray for Pastor Becky and Pastor Steve, and for Pastor Hahn, and their respective families. Praise God for their service, confess that we often forget to thank them, and ask God to fulfil their needs and grant them His peace.

Christianity Today lists some ways that you can encourage our pastors.

Pray for God’s Protection

Filed under: Prayer — Angela @ 2:12 pm

Psalm 5:11b
Spread your protection over them,
That those who love your name may rejoice in you.

D L Moody writes ” If you have so much business to attend to that you have no time to pray, depend on it, you have more business on hand than God ever intended you should have.”

Pray for protection and good health for all our pastors, staff, leaders, campaign co-leaders and team members, and all who will participate in the upcoming 40 Days of Community. Especially Delwayne Hahn and his family as he begins his ministry at Zion as interim pastor.

Pray for protection against distractions, worries, problems, and concerns that will prevent us from being focused completely on what you have for us during 40 Days of Community.

Pray for protection against discouragement as seemingly impossible tasks and schedules mount prior to and during the campaign.

Give all of us strength to face what may arise at this time, remembering that God can use problems to deepen our trust in him.

Pray for the following messages written on the prayer chain at Rally Day.
Family
Zion Youth
Our pastors
To love everyone
For those traveling to other countries
For friends

The Prayer Team
