“What on earth are WE here for?”

Filed under: Announcements — Angela @ 10:54 pm

That is a question you will be hearing more often in the months to come. You will hear this because the 40 Days of Community program which will be available to everyone in our church; Lent of 2008 and that’s what it’s all about. This program will give us opportunities to not only learn about why God calls us to be connected in community with each other, but why it is also important to serve and work together within our community.

On Sunday morning, October 21, 2007, more information will be given regarding 40 Days of Community. The main topic that will be addressed is the importance of Small Groups and the need for Group Hosts. 40 Days of Community is designed to help the people in our church connect in a Small Group to deepen their relationship with each other and God. Information will be shared on how you can become a host for a group in your home or at church. We will need a lot of hosts. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions for Hosts and Host Sign-up Cards will be available on that day.

This is a very exciting time for all of us as we envision our entire congregation connecting on a deeper level, and the impact this could have on our church and community.

Prayer Matters

Filed under: Prayer — Angela @ 2:12 pm

In preparation for this 40 Days of Community emphasis, it is important to remember that God’s power is unleashed through our prayers. It is prayer that ultimately brings the power of God into this process, transforming lives and bringing lasting change to our church and community. When prayer touches the fuse of God’s power, amazing things can happen!

Intercessory prayer is the simplest form of communication that we have with God. It is during times of reflection and quietness that we hear him speaking to our hearts and renewing us in his presence. Although prayer is a special time of praising God, confessing our sins, and expressing our own needs to him, it is also a time for each of us to ask him to be working in our family, marriage, church, small group, neighborhood, workplace, community, and world.

Ask God to give us eyes to see our church and community, as we never have before. Ask him to let our hearts be with those who are hurting, lonely, confused, discouraged, exhausted, fearful, angry, ill, homeless, and spiritually or physically hungry or have any other difficulty. Pray that God will send a wave of spiritual growth across America and around the world. Your prayers matter.
